What can facial expression, body language and behaviour tell us about how the horse is feeling? How can we get better at recognising signs of stress and pain? Do we really know when our horses are happy or enjoying themselves? In this practical demo I will give you an introduction to 'reading the horse'. We will look at a few guinea pig horses and discuss how we can respond to what we are seeing, including the impact of different training methods and equipment on each individual. Dr Helen Spence has a psychology degree and a doctorate in the field of horse behaviour. She brings together academic knowledge and many years of lecturing in psychology and horse behaviour with nearly three decades of experience working in the horse industry initially as a groom and a coach and then as a trainer and a registered Clinical Animal Behavourist specialising in Equines. This experience puts her in a unique position to bridge the gap between science and practical applications in the horse world. Click link on right to submit an application.
