Rules and Guidelines
• Always let someone know where you are going, what you are doing and what time you will be back. • Do not canoe/kayak if you cannot swim or float confidently. • Always wear adequate buoyancy and ensure there is adequate buoyancy for your canoe/kayak. • Always sign in and out gear from the Club. • Report any damages or breakages to the Club committee. • Be aware of your skill set when paddling. DECLARATION • I accept that canoeing is an adventurous sport, which by its very nature is a sport that involves a degree of risk of personal injury or death. I acknowledge that Muine Beag kayak &sup Club cannot ensure my complete safety at all times, I accept these risks and agree to be responsible for my own actions and involvement. I accept that Muine Beag kayak &sup Club cannot be held liable for any injuries caused to me or caused to others or their property by me, due to my participation or involvement in this sport. • I hereby undertake to abide the rules and regulations set out in the Club Constitution and will be ultimately responsible for my own safety and that of my fellow paddlers while on outings with the club e.g., peer paddles or outing and trips undertaken by the club. I will not put myself or other at risk by being reckless and will stay with the group at all times. • I confirm that I can swim at least twenty-five meters and am proficient in treading water. • DECLARATION cont • The club committee reserve the right to refuse membership or in certain circumstances terminate membership. The annual club membership runs each year from __January____ to __December____. • Any person joining in midterm will be liable for the cost of the full annual term. • I confirm that I have read the above and I understand the conditions as set out therein. • I also agree to accept the Muine Beag kayak &sup Club rules and those of Canoeing Ireland. • I give Muine Beag kayak &sup Club permission to pass on my information to Canoeing Ireland to be signed up to the database.

• Club members will at all times be civil and follow instruction by training personnel. • Under no circumstances will any member be asked to do something that would put them at risk. • All members will be responsible for loss or damage to any club equipment. • All members are responsible for their own safety and will not put themselves other club members at risk. • Members are responsible for informing committee members of damage or loss of any equipment in their care. • Instruction given by qualified instructor is to be followed but can be questioned in unsure what is been asked. • Bullying will not be tolerated. • If given a safety instruction it must be followed immediately with out question as it might have fatal consequence. • If you are asked for your Canoeing Ireland membership you should be able to produce it • We are a volunteer organisation and please remember this if you have questions, please ask a committee member and we will try and answer any queries. • Please have fun and enjoy your time on the water.

About us MKSC is affiliated to the Irish Canoe Union (Canoeing Ireland). Canoeing Ireland is the governing body for paddle sports in Ireland, is affiliated to the European Canoe Association (ECA) and is the Member Federation for Ireland of the International Canoe Association (ICA) the world governing body for the sport. What data we will collect on becoming a member, MKSC will need to collect certain information about you which will include your name, date of birth, gender, email address, address, telephone number, names of the Canoeing Ireland affiliated clubs that you are a member of and details of any skills/instructor qualifications you hold (all referred to as Canoeing Data). We will also collect the full name and telephone number of the emergency contact(s) nominated by you, as well as details of injuries or medical conditions as provided by you. You may also choose to provide us with other information. Why we will collect it: we will collect and process your Canoeing Data for the purposes of registering you as a member of Canoeing Ireland and administering your involvement in the sport. We will process it on the basis of legitimate interests. The legitimate interests are the interests of registering you as a member and to administer the sport. We will only use your Canoeing Data for the purposes of registering and administering your involvement in the sport. You can opt out at any time by notifying us. Guidance on how long this club we will keep your data We will retain your Canoeing Data for such time as you are a member registered with us. Sharing your data: We may share your Canoeing Data with other Canoeing clubs for the purposes of competition and event participation. We may share your Canoeing Data with third-party data managers that we appoint as data processors as part of administering your involvement in sport. We will not transfer your data to any other third parties without obtaining your consent and, where possible, will anonymise your data before sharing. We will not share any other personal data you provide to us that is not Canoeing Data. Privacy policy all of the personal data we collect from you will be collected, stored and processed in accordance with the terms of our privacy policy. Complaints: If you have any concerns or complaints in relation to how the club collects and/or processes your personal data, you should contact MKSC Data Protection Officer in the first instance. If you are dissatisfied with how your concern/complaint is dealt with by this club you have the right to report your concern/complaint to the Data Protection Commissioner (www.dataprotection.ie)
Club Child Protection Statement
Muinebeag Kayak &sup club (M.K.S.C) provides various water activities and opportunities for young people through participation in our club, our Training officer and committee in association with Canoeing Ireland is committed to safeguarding children. By working under the guidance of our Safeguarding Policies our volunteers and staff, working with our young people throughout the club, seek to create a safe environment for young people to grow and develop. Canoeing Ireland’s written Risk Assessment document indicates the areas of potential risk of harm, the likelihood of the risk occurring, and gives the required policy, guidance or process documents require to alleviate these risks. The list of risks identified are contained in the following categories: Club and Coaching Practices; Complaints & Discipline; Reporting Procedures; Use of Facilities; Recruitment; Communications; and General Risk of Harm. The Risk Assessment was undertaken in 2019. Our Child Safeguarding Statement has been developed in line with requirements under the Children First Act 2015, the National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children and Tusla’s Child Safeguarding Guide for Policy, Procedure and Practice. In addition to our Risk Assessment document described above, there are further procedures that support our intention to safeguard children while they are availing of our activities. M.K.S.C & Canoeing Ireland has the following procedures in place as part of our Safeguarding Policies: • Procedures for the management of allegations of abuse or misconduct by staff or volunteers against a child availing of our activities • Procedures for the safe recruitment of staff and volunteers to work with children in our activities •Procedures for access to child safeguarding training and information, including the identification of the occurrence of harm • Procedure for reporting of child protection or welfare concerns to Statutory Authorities The Mandated/Relevant Person for M.K.S.C is Donal Ryan dlpmksc@gmail.com & Canoeing Ireland is Moira Aston.
