Area 17 On Foot Polocrosse Training
7 to 8pm, at the Dome, Comber Leisure Centre. Training for members young and old, advanced players and beginners. If you haven't played before, this is the perfect time to give it a go. We have the racquets and balls, all you need to bring is a pair of trainers and lots of energy. You will learn all the basics, pick-ups, throwing, bouncing, and catching, to get started and progressing to training drills to improve ball skill, and to sharpen up your reactions. Lunch for everyone will be from 12.30 pm - 1.30 pm: an opportunity for members and parents to chat and have a catch up. Afternoon session will be for our members, lead rein up to 70 cms from 1.30 pm and will consist of 45 minutes each of Dressage and Show Jumping at The Meadows with TBC. For those who have young horses/ponies and are interested in attending we hope to have enough to run a group in the afternoon. Block 1 of our 7-week training programme from January to March 2026 to prepare for the Area Quiz (1st March) and the Area Horse & Pony Care Competition (14th March). There will be three sessions each week, all covering the same content (you only need to attend one). Dates for this block can be seen once you chose the date of interest. Sundays 11–12 at Lessans (note: two weeks will move to Saturday due to SJ league clashes) Mondays 4–5 at Gransha Thursdays 6–7 at Gransha Training is open to all members aged 14 and under (as of 1st Jan 2026) and is not limited to those competing, although we hope to field as many Mini and Junior teams as possible this year. The programme will cover all elements of the Horse & Pony Care and National Quiz syllabus, including working towards the theory of relevant efficiency tests, and will include achievement badges or mini badges where appropriate. All participants will also receive a copy of “How Ponies Learn”, which is part of the competition syllabus. Note entries are not open for this event.
